As Attorney General:

What are your priorities?

My top priority is to better protect the people of Missouri.

I will create a Cyber Crimes Unit to work with local prosecutors and law enforcement to go after anyone who uses the Internet as a weapon, especially those who prey on our children. It will also target con artists trying to take advantage of consumers as well as alert consumers of current scams and predators, using the media, emails and even text messages, so they will not fall prey to them.

I will work to wipe out meth because of the horrible damage it does to people.
I will expand the Crime Victims' Division to build on laws I passed making sure victims, especially those of sexual and domestic assault, feel safe to seek to justice.

I will restore integrity to the office by being open and transparent with public records and when hiring outside attorneys, and by refusing to solicit or accept campaign contributions from anyone the office is investigating or prosecuting.

Why are you qualified to hold the office?

Most of my adult life has been serving the people and practicing law. As a lawyer, I have a range of legal experience from running a small firm in Kirkwood to working in a large firm with offices across the state.

As a legislative leader, I have a strong record of passing laws that protect our families. Under my leadership, we passed legislation requiring mandatory minimums for child sex offenders, catching and punishing Internet predators, cracking down on the manufacturing and selling of methamphetamine, protecting private property rights, and curbing identity theft.

I believe my understanding of the law gained through years of experience writing and fighting for the same laws the Attorney General is in charge of enforcing makes me uniquely qualified to enforce our state’s laws.

As a son, husband and father, I am committed to protecting my family. As Attorney General, I am committed to protecting all Missourians.

Why should voters elect you instead of your opponent?

I am the one candidate publicly committed to making real changes as Attorney General to protect the people and improve the lives of everyone in our state.

I have a record of being fair and doing the right things for the right reasons. A majority of senators from both parties elected me as Senate Leader because I make principled decisions rather than playing politics. As Attorney General, I will enforce the law in a fair and impartial manner.

The Attorney General's Office is like a large law firm, and the Attorney General’s role is much larger than that of a prosecutor. In fact, in the last 40 years not one Attorney General has been an elected prosecutor. Missourians need and deserve someone who gets results through leadership. I have managed and cut government budgets, including my own, and I can manage the office’s multimillion dollar budget and hundreds of staff efficiently.
